Stronger focus and shared ambitions
“The collaboration enables The Greenery to fully focus on its core tasks - the cultivation and sale of fruit and vegetables produced by its growers - while AB Texel will use its expertise to realise an efficient and sustainable transport chain,” says Arthur Swijter, CFO at The Greenery. "In addition, we will support our sustainability objectives by collaborating on innovative and environmentally friendly logistics solutions."
Sustainability is therefore an important part of this collaboration. With the switch to HVO fuel for transport, The Greenery is taking an important step towards reducing its CO₂ emissions. In turn, AB Texel continues to invest in the sustainability of its fleet and further digitisation. This joint effort not only improves services to growers and customers, it also contributes to wider food chain sustainability.
“We look forward to deploying our logistics expertise for The Greenery, and building a more sustainable and efficient food chain together. The collaboration is in line with our strategy to help partners in the chain achieve their ambitions via sustainable methods, with scale and network advantages, expertise and data as the key to success," says Dennis Wetenkamp, CEO of AB Texel.
Proposed acquisition
The acquisition of Dijco by AB Texel is subject to approval from the Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM). The proposed acquisition includes Dijco employees, as well as its customer base and fleet.
The Greenery and AB Texel look to the future with confidence and envisage the collaboration as a unique opportunity to create value for all parties involved in the fresh produce chain.
