More sustainable transport: 85 new (Bio-)LNG trucks

AB Texel is taking the next step towards making its fleet more sustainable. With the delivery of a further 85 new (Bio-)LNG trucks, there will be a total of 175 (Bio-)LNG trucks in our fleet by the end of 2026. The advantage of Bio-LNG is that it enables us to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 100% compared with fossil fuels. Bio-LNG is produced from manure and other organic waste streams.

Use in various types of transport
The new lorries will be widely used to transport animal feed, agricultural products and dairy goods. (Bio-)LNG lorries are a particularly suitable solution in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, thanks to the extensive network of (Bio-)LNG refuelling stations.

Part of our sustainability strategy
The expansion of our fleet of (Bio-)LNG trucks is in line with the sustainability strategy of AB Texel and Royal A-ware. Our aim is to reduce CO₂ emissions per tonne-kilometre by at least 40 per cent  by 2030 compared to 2025. Alternative fuels make a significant contribution to this.  

A mix of sustainable solutions
AB Texel has made a conscious choice to use a mix of alternative fuels. In addition to (Bio-)LNG, we are investing in electric lorries and, in the United Kingdom, we use HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), a more sustainable alternative to conventional diesel. In this way, we select the most suitable, sustainable solution for each type of transport and operational area.
