Employees
It is important to us that our employees enjoy their work and are committed to the company. We aim to be an employer that employees speak proudly of and where they feel at home. That's something we invest in. For instance, we offer customised training courses via our own AB Move on Academy, organise AB Cafés meet ups and have our own AB Fit programme to promote employee fitness. This programme supports both physical and mental health. We also use our own communication platform to communicate quickly and easily with our employees.
AB Move on – customised training courses
Our employees are experienced professionals and experts in their field. We're very proud of their high level of expertise. To maintain this high level of employee expertise, all AB drivers follow an annual AB specific training programme. As operations at AB Texel are extremely wide ranging and each professional role requires specific knowledge and skills, we only provide customised training courses that complement the work performed by our drivers. This enables them to focus on learning about things that are useful to their daily activities.
Training courses are organised within our own AB Move on Academy. We have developed our own training courses for every type of transport and trailer. This allows us to explore subjects in depth during the training sessions and engage with practical issues. For example, AB drivers actively practice loading and unloading, or take a look underneath the truck. As innovation in trucks and equipment is continuous, it means there is always something new to learn. We regularly receive this feedback from participants during the evaluation phase.
AB Connect - communication platform
Drivers are often away from home for days at a time. To ensure that we can communicate with them and keep them up to date with the latest developments, we use our own digital communication platform: AB Connect.
With the AB Connect app, our employees have all important information to hand. News reports keep them updated on the latest changes to clients’ instructions, laws and regulations, and new working methods. Employees can use the app to consult the driver's manual, sign and save documents, submit expenses and view pay slips and timesheets.
Our employees also use AB Connect to share their opinions and ideas. We also organise polls through the app. With the touch of a button, a large number of our staff think along with us on all sorts of issues.
In addition, the app offers even more handy features. For example, ordering new work clothing and looking up the nearest petrol stations, garages or truck washes. Very practical!
AB Café
Working is a lot more fun if you click with your colleagues and the company you work for. AB Texel is growing; we’re currently a team of some 2,900 employees.
It’s important to us that we have the opportunity to chat in an informal setting from time to time – as colleagues, from all levels of the organisation. So we organise the AB Café a few times a year. On these enjoyable days, colleagues get together to catch up. We also bring colleagues up to speed on the latest developments in the organisation.
Employees chat to colleagues from other AB companies, to their managers and the management team, while enjoying a drink and a bite to eat. At AB Texel, we promote an open and inclusive working environment!
Healthy at work with AB Fit
Fit and healthy employees, in terms of both physical and mental health, are happier and more productive. As an organisation we are keen to make a contribution to this, so we developed 'AB Fit'. This programme consists of various modules that employees can participate in.
Everyone’s different and we all have different needs, so AB Fit has a wide range of options to choose from. Employees can decide what the best option is for them. Options include individual coaching for a healthy lifestyle, a bicycle plan, debt counselling or psychological support. The AB Fit programme is available to everyone at AB Texel in the Netherlands.
