AB Texel UK acquires Aitken & Merry Contractors

Aitken & Merry Contractors has built a strong name in agricultural transport and storage over four decades. AB Texel UK is taking over the transport and storage business including the 20 employees, the fleet, the land and buildings at Greetham Wood, Rutland.

With this acquisition, AB Texel UK is expanding its services, particularly in the field of tipper transport. The employees of Aitken & Merry Contractors specialise in mainly agricultural commodities such as grains & rapeseed but also many aggregates. This makes them a valuable addition to AB Texel UK's team. The significant expansion and diversification of the fleet and team will enable AB Texel UK to provide its customers with a more comprehensive and better service.

AB Texel UK specialises in the transport of potatoes and other agricultural products. 120 employees endeavour daily to provide customers in the UK with the best logistics services. To this end, they have a modern fleet of more than 100 trucks with belt trailers and tipper trailers.

AB Texel UK is part of AB Texel Group, a strong international player in the transport of agricultural products, animal feed, flour, chilled food products and dairy products.

The farming business of Nigel Aitken and John Merry remains outside the acquisition.
