By using this electric combination, the companies are achieving completely emission-free transport - a strong signal to the market.
Robert Bakker, Managing Director of Noppert Beton: "We not only want to provide our customers with high quality concrete products, but we also want to do so in the most responsible way possible. Zero-emission transport is a logical and necessary step. This increases our added value and allows us to respond to the need for sustainable solutions in the construction industry.
The combination consists of a new DAF XF 350 Electric and a semi-trailer with an electric loading crane. This means that not only the transport, but also the loading and unloading are emission-free. The truck has a range of about 330 kilometres and is used daily.
For AB Texel Special Transport, this is the second electric truck in the fleet. The transport company is working towards net zero emissions by 2050. Cooperation in the supply chain is essential to achieve this goal.
Martin Numan, Managing Director of AB Texel Special Transport: "We make targeted investments in sustainability. The collaboration with Noppert Beton is a good example of how we can accelerate together. Fully electric driving, loading and unloading is still a long way off in our industry - we want to show that it can be done".
Sustainable chain collaboration pays dividends
The use of this electric combination is part of the wider sustainability strategy of both companies. Noppert Beton has recently been awarded the CSC Gold certificate for sustainable concrete and now wants to make the next link in the chain more sustainable with emission-free transport. This offers not only environmental benefits, but also commercial opportunities in zero emission construction.
AB Texel is exploring various alternatives to fossil fuels, including investments in battery electric trucks, bio-LNG and HVO. A pilot of five hydrogen-powered trucks will start in 2026.
